A plenary meeting among stakeholders on Thursday revealed that the preparation for the 2018 Asian Para Games is on track and Indonesia is ready to stage the multi-sport event and to produce a good achievement on the field. The meeting, held at the Youth and Sports Ministry office and was led by Minister Imam Nahrawi, discussed about the final preparation of the Games, which will run from October 6-13. Indonesia Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (INAPGOC) chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari and Indonesia’s Chef de Mission (CdM) Arminsyah were among dignitaries attending the meeting. “The preparation has already reached 90 percent in term of venue’s preparedness, volunteer, system. More importantly a concerted effort is being done to promote the Games’ logo, athletes and spirit throughout the archipelago,” Imam said. The Games, which will be participated by thousands of athletes from 41 nations, will serve to prove that Indonesia is a dignified nation that aspires to make for a more inclusive society for people with impairments, Imam said, adding that the nation has also done the maximum effort to prepare the athletes to attain the highest achievement. “Mr. Okto and the CdM keep paying a close attention to the Games’ preparation. The preparation has been running well to ensure the flawless execution of the main events and to achieve as many medals as possible,” Imam added. Meanwhile, Okto ensured that all the venues prepared for the Games would be ready in time. “According to the initial plan, the venues should be ready on September25, but there is a request to accelerate the preparation and I believe we can do it earlier than planned,” he said. “The plan has been executed since six months ago and we need support from all parties to ensure that everything runs according to the plan, said Okto, who also chairs the Indonesian Cycling Federation (PB ISSI). On the other hand, Arminsyah said that with the ongoing preparation, he is confident that the athletes could reach the targeted achievement. “Our athletes have undergone intensive trainings in Solo for the past eight months. Contingents from Lawn Ball and Shooting have already been in Jakarta and they will be followed by the rest of the athletes. Every athlete is ready to reach the highest achievement,” he assured.
